As the temperature starts to warm and the days get longer, it is safe to safe that Spring has arrived. That means it's time to get out and enjoy the outdoors. As much as I love going to the gym in the winter, I just can't will myself to workout indoors during these beautiful days. Since I tend to overlook the gym when it's nice out, one of the ways I stay in shape during the summer months is to go horse back riding. Riding is a great cardio and helps to work muscles groups in your legs that you just can't get to at the gym. I've been riding horses for close to 20 years and have never found a work out quite like it. I think part of this is due to the satisfaction you get after having a great ride, one where you and your horse learn from one another.
I also love to go hiking, and am hoping to get out on a few trails this Spring. There are so many around the adirondacks that it's easy to find and try new trails all the time. My husband and I both enjoy the outdoors, and whenever we get a sunny weekend we try to get out and find something adventurous to do. Below are a few pictures of us on the Indian Ladder Trail and Adirondack Extreme (ziplining) this past summer. Let me know what your favorite outdoor activities are and how you stay active while enjoying the beautiful weather that is just around the corner.
