Football Players and Other Athletes

With the super bowl just days away, I thought now would be a great time to talk about how chiropractic can give athletes and competitors that extra edge on the field, in the ring, or on the green.  One of the most famous supporters of chiropractic is Jerry Rice, who has spoken out many times over the years.  Having helped lead the San Francisco 49ers to three Super Bowl Championships between 1985 and 2000, he states that "Chiropractic care was key to keeping me in the game."  Football players take rough hits, play in drastic conditions, and have the stress of performing in front of millions of viewers on a regular basis.  Over time this can take a toll on their bodies which is why Rice, like so many other top athletes, turned to chiropractic.
All but one of the 32 teams in the National Football League (NFL) utilize the services of a chiropractor as part of their health care team in managing and preventing injuries. Rice first experienced chiropractic when the 49ers were set to play the Bengals in Super Bowl XXIII.  Several key players were injured from previous games, and he credits a chiropractor with helping to keep these players performing at their best.  Rice states, "ever since then, I've had the benefit of chiropractic care."  He retired from the NFL in 2005 after a very long and successful career.
In 2006 Rice was invited to compete on the second season of Dancing with the Stars.  Although dancing is not considered a contact sport it does involve long hours of training, flexibility and agility.  “‘Dancing with the Stars’ was every bit as exhausting and challenging—though not nearly as brutal—as football,” he says. “It required many hours of practice. I had aches and pains that I never had before. Again, chiropractic care made the difference—and kept me dancing and in the competition.”
Check out several quotes from other top athletes.

"The game of life requires the edge that chiropractic care provides."
- Jerry Rice

"Bodybuilders and fitness people have been using chiropractic very extensively in order to stay healthy and fit. I found it was better to go to a chiropractor before you get injured. We are a perfect team - the world of fitness and the world of chiropractors."
-Arnold Scwarzenegger

"I have to have an adjustment before I go into the ring. I do believe in chiropractic. I found that going to a chiropractor three times a week helps my performance. The majority of boxers go to get that edge."
-Evander Holyfield

"I've been seeing a chiropractor and he's really been helping me out a lot. Chiropracti's been a big part of my game."
- Joe Montana

"I go to see Dr. Bill (chiropractor) when I get bent out of shape on Sundays. Playing in a football game is like being in 30-40 car accidents."
- Emmit Smith

"Being a chiorpractic patient has really helped me immensely... lifting weights and seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis has made me a better golfer. I've been going to a chiropractor for as long as I can remember. It's as important to my training as practicing my swing."
- Tiger Woods
