All but one of the 32 teams in the National Football League (NFL) utilize the services of a chiropractor as part of their health care team in managing and preventing injuries. Rice first experienced chiropractic when the 49ers were set to play the Bengals in Super Bowl XXIII. Several key players were injured from previous games, and he credits a chiropractor with helping to keep these players performing at their best. Rice states, "ever since then, I've had the benefit of chiropractic care." He retired from the NFL in 2005 after a very long and successful career.
In 2006 Rice was invited to compete on the second season of Dancing with the Stars. Although dancing is not considered a contact sport it does involve long hours of training, flexibility and agility. “‘Dancing with the Stars’ was every bit as exhausting and challenging—though not nearly as brutal—as football,” he says. “It required many hours of practice. I had aches and pains that I never had before. Again, chiropractic care made the difference—and kept me dancing and in the competition.”
